Field Tank Construction

New Tank Construction with External Floating Roof (EFR)

Elite Integrity Services successfully delivered a 175,000 BBL API 650 dilbit storage tank featuring a steel pontoon external floating roof (EFR) in Northern Alberta—showcasing Elite’s capability to execute complex, large-scale storage tank projects. To support an accelerated client schedule, Elite developed and implemented a construction strategy that allowed the tank shell and external floating roof to be built simultaneously. This approach helped streamline the schedule while maintaining control over safety, quality, and overall field construction. From engineering and shop fabrication through to field execution, our team delivered a high-quality storage tank that reflects Elite’s commitment to doing things the right way—safely, efficiently, and with a high level of professionalism.

Project Highlights:

  • IFC main steel drawings issued within three weeks, including full design of a steel pontoon external floating roof (EFR).
  • Pre-assembled at our Ponoka, AB facility, our team delivered (16) 40’ pontoon sections, highlighting our ability to efficiently support field construction.
  • Installation of approximately 1.25 million pounds of structural steel.
  • Successful implementation of concurrent tank and EFR construction strategy to accelerate schedule.
  • Over 17,000 hours worked without a single lost time incident, reflecting strong safety performance and field leadership.
